Meet Dr. Alex Haeri. From a dedicated GP to a passionate Cognitive Behaviour Therapist.

Dr Alex Haeri

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT)

Pronouns - She/Her

I have followed an unconventional path to working as a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. My career started in Medicine, training across the specialities (including Psychiatry) to qualify as a GP.

During this period, I realised how much our mental health can be impacted by physical health conditions, life events, and even the day-to-day challenges of life that can build up and affect us deeply. I retrained as a CBT therapist, working with clients in the NHS, and now as a private on-line therapist in the UK.

I have developed a special interest in Insomnia – a common presentation and linked to many psychological problems.

Cognitive and Behavioural interventions for insomnia (CBT-I) have a good evidence base for helping people to improve their sleep and and reduce reliance on sleep medication.

I firmly believe that if you sleep well, it is much easier to face the challenges of daily life.

Over the past few years, I have continued to adapt and take a more flexible therapeutic approach, in line with an individual client’s challenges and needs. I have also seen increasing numbers of Neurodiverse clients over recent years and believe that greater flexibility and understanding are essential to help therapy be a more comfortable and effective process.

I also have extensive experience working with clients who present with anxiety disorders - particularly OCD, social anxiety and generalised anxiety disorder, low self-esteem, and depression.

Transformative Insights with Alex

“I found the Therapy very beneficicial as Alex was always very clear in her advice and explained the different tools that would be used in the sessions, that i could use to aid my recovery from anxiety and sleeplessness. She was always patient, calm and positive giving me plenty of time to explain my concerns and then plan which tools to practice for the following week. I would highly recommend Alex as someone with many skills and resources that she can pass onto her clients to give them confidence to continue using CBT in their everyday lives.” Ros

Each session was tailored to my unique concerns and weekly life experiences which I found meaningful and ultimately, useful.” James

Effective Anxiety Management with Alex

“Alex was very kind, patient, considerate and provided good tools to work with.” Anonymous

Deep Empathy and Connection with Alex

“Alex is a lovely therapist, She listens, is empathetic, remembers details, offers ideas, skills and techniques to try.

She doesn't focus on the time and always finishes off the conversation fully even if that means that we go into extra time. That is great as that means you're not focusing on whether you will cut off mid point once you reach the end of the session.” Anonymous
